‘People come and people go; the earth goes on and on’. This idea of timelessness is celebrated in Again by the prominent American composer David Lang. The conductor, Daniel Reuss, connects this composition to music by Josquin des Prez, Orlandus Lassus and Arvo Pärt. With Cappella Amsterdam, he sings the cycle of life as it is and has been, from beginning to end, from grief and sorrow to love, reconciliation and resignation. A profoundly reflective program.
