From time immemorial, wine has made the arts flourish. Poets, composers and painters have all found inspiration in a bottle. Wine represents conviviality and pleasure, but also passion, melancholy and even a hint of misery. Intoxicating, bitter, soft or sparkling: might wine be a reflection of life itself? Is there truth to be found at the bottom of a glass? Soprano Liesbeth Devos and accordionist Gwen Cresens take a deep draught of rich musical heritage from the Renaissance to the present day, in search of melodies in which wine flows freely. From Monteverdi, Purcell, Eccles and Landi to Barbara and Luis Mariano: every glass of music has its own story to tell.
