Aurae & the M Collective
After the summer, the Predikherenkerk in Mechelen will reopen as a cultural church. The Festival of Flanders Mechelen/Kempen intends to celebrate in style with a double concert. The link with Lunalia is the presentation of a brand-new vocal ensemble: the M Collective. Aurae connect it to Musica Divina. This duo consists of soprano An-Sofie Moons and accordionist Sebastian Enriques. They will perform Youkali by Kurt Weill and Abendempfindung by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The eight singers of the M Collective introduce themselves with a programme ranging from Francis Poulenc and Orlandus Lassus to Coldplay and Tom Waits. Its artistic leader is the tenor Michiel Haspeslagh, and the tenor Henk Pringels is the director. The collective has chosen to sing without a conductor and generally without scores. No genre is avoided, and plenty of attention is focused on visual storytelling. The collective’s aim is to search for the beauty behind the notes and the text.
