Bach Khayyam

Constantinople

There are more than 600 years between the lives of Johann Sebastian Bach and Omar Khayyam. Nevertheless, these two geniuses seem to be made for each other. Both combine a mastery of mathematics with a spiritual world view. Constantinople brings the two artists into dialogue with each other. Arrangements of some of Bach’s most poignant arias alternate with poems by Omar Khayyam. They are sung in Persian, in response to Bach’s music.
