2020 is the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth in Bonn. The famous Spanish Cuarteto Quiroga will perform his Heiliger Dankgesang eines Genesenen an die Gottheit at Musica Divina. Beethoven had to suspend work on his fifteenth string quartet for a while because he was seriously ill, and this middle section is literally praise to God for restoring his health. This particularly heartfelt work is combined with other pieces for Hardanger fiddle and voice, performed by the top Norwegian musician Benedicte Maurseth.
