La Nuict Froide et Sombre
ClubMediéval and SPECTRA
If any single moment can reveal truth, it must be the stroke of midnight. And preferably on a quiet, gloomy, dark night. That is the premise of the chanson La Nuict Froide et Sombre by Orlandus Lassus. Flemish composer Daan Janssens has created an idiosyncratic adaptation of the original for five instruments. Immortal repertoire in dialogue with newly composed music: that was the idea that ClubMediéval and SPECTRA brought to the table. Ockeghem inspired Harrison Birtwistle, and the well-known Frederik Neyrinck has incorporated Bedyngham into a brand new composition: Memling Echo. It was written especially for SPECTRA, ClubMediéval, Lore Binon and Lieselot De Wilde.
