“My garden is my music. My memory is the humus layer of my garden, which grows in this earth, spreading its roots and permeating the ground to go elsewhere, to unite with the universe.” These are the words of Kiya Tabassian, artistic director of the Canadian ensemble Constantinople. At Musica Divina, he combines his musical garden with that of Ablaye Cissoko, the famous griot from Saint-Louis, Senegal. The encounter between these musicians has been poetic from the outset: a meeting of strings and voices, one time and another, the Mandinka kingdom and Persia, two worlds of the imagination.
