Two treatises by Jean de Muris and Philippe de Vitry from the early 14th century had Ars Nova in the title. The new art. The beginning of this chapter in music history is still exciting. The melodies seemed to burst open like the buds of a vine in spring, the polyphonic structures seemed to carry like the pillars of the most magnificent cathedrals and the old musical stories began to shine like new. The Sollazzo Ensemble takes this to heart and makes the angels dance as holograms. Centuries old, alive and kicking.
