Upon the chant

CURRENDE

Currende are known and loved for their interpretation of 16th, 17th and 18th century polyphonic music. For Upon the chant, their artistic director Erik Van Nevel harks back to mediaeval Gregorian chants. He has arranged the melodies of the most important liturgical times of the year to create new polyphonic music. This gives the Dies Irae, In Paradisum, Gaudeamus, Ave Maria etc. a new colour. This colour is combined with compositions such as Heinrich Schütz’ An den Wassern zu Babel and other compositions relating to the Exodus.
