Voces Suaves: the Song of Songs
Voces Suaves
On 3 February 2025, it will be 500 years since the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, one of the most famous composers of the 16th century. The Swiss ensemble Voces Suaves brings fitting tribute with several of his madrigals and a selection from his magnificent setting of the Canticum Canticorum, or Song of Songs. These compositions are set alongside music by another great master, Philippe de Monte. His Missa sex vocum supra Vestiva i colli incorporates themes from Palestrina’s madrigal of the same name.
