Pilgrims' hymn
The Flemish Radio Choir & String Quartet of the Brussels Philharmonic cond. by Sigvards Klava
The Flemish Radio Choir, together with the string quartet of the Brussels Philharmonic, goes on a musical pilgrimage. The programme describes the (life) journey of the pilgrim with both moments of wonder at nature and, of course, religious moments. The first aspect is expressed, for example, in Reflections from a plain by Tõnu Kõrvits. The second can be found in Arvo Pärt's Missa Sillabica for vocal ensemble and strings. This 1977 mass is one of the earliest compositions in which Pärt used text as the starting point for one of his now world-famous tintinnabuli compositions.
